What People Say About the SCWC

“This was the best conference I’ve ever attended.” — Nationally known author and speaker

I am eagerly looking forward to the SCWC.  My daughter is coming with me this year.  I’m looking forward to the inspiration, encouragement, and new insights.

I emailed friends I’ve met there in the past and we are looking forward to seeing each other and catching up on our writing adventures.

I first heard about the SCWC in June 2004.  A week before the conference, as I was driving to the office, I heard J. J. Jasper interviewing you on American Family Radio.

During the interview I realized I really wanted to attend the conference and kept listening for details.  At one traffic light, I got out a pencil and something to write on and said, “Okay, y’all please give me the contact information at the next traffic light.”  And you did. You gave me the email address.

I got to the office, checked my calendar, and amazingly enough—even though the conference was only about a week way—I was free.  So I emailed, signed up and attended.

I sat at the front-and-center table next to a couple named Judith and Chuck. We have sat together at each of the last three conferences and plan to do so again this year.  Some advice he gave me via email two years ago led me to self-publish the book you have so graciously allowed me to bring to the conference to sell.

I am eagerly anticipating the conference and I just thought you ought to know how very strongly you and the SCWC are impacting my life.

Thank you for your sensitivity to the Lord and for being willing to share so generously of yourselves and your expertise.

I am eagerly looking forward to this year’s conference and praying that it will richly bless all who attend—as well as the staff and the other conference presenters.

Attending the SCWC Makes a Difference

Bonnie Simmerman

Have you ever thought about how doing one thing can change so many other things? One time of attending the Southern Christian Writers Conference certainly made a difference in my life. The journey began in 2008 when my friend, Patty, attended the workshop for the first time.

Patty’s son was attending the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa, and she was looking for an excuse to visit him. She saw an ad for the SCWC in an education periodical. Her thinking was she would attend one session and check it out. If she didn’t like it, she would spend the rest of the weekend with her son. However, she loved the workshop, took in all the sessions and returned home eager to get involved with writing.

Shortly after coming home from the workshop Patty called to tell me she was bringing lunch and wanted to share something with me. We had a lovely salad together and she told me all about the workshop and how someone there had suggested that it was a good idea to have a writing partner to work with. She wondered if I would be interested. Now I should tell you that even though she and I had been friends for over 30 years, she had no idea that I had ever done any writing, but as we talked I told her about articles I had written for church publications as well as a couple of stories. We agreed to meet once a week for lunch and to discuss what we might do with our renewed interest in writing.

Needless to say, I was interested in the workshop and so we decided to attend the following year. It was a wonderful experience and I learned so much. When we returned home we began our writing partnership. I do the writing and Patty does the editing. It is simple to email her my writing and have her edit it in red and email it back to me where I can make corrections.

Since that time I have been able to publish much of my writing. The first article was one in a church magazine for which we actually got paid! Two other articles were accepted for publication also one of these was awarded honorable mention in the 2010 SCWC writing contest. Besides these, I started writing columns for our local newspaper under Community Voices. Over thirty-five have been accepted for publication.

In addition to the magazine and newspaper articles, I have published two children’s books. One is The Shepherd’s Night Before Christmas which can be purchased from blurb.com and the other one is Biblical Nursery Rhymes which can be purchased from bookpatch.com. To celebrate our 50th wedding anniversary, I wrote a book for my husband and each of our children about our fifty years together. Currently I am working on another book entitled Musings, Memories, and Messages which I hope to have finished by summer.

Writing is a very rewarding pastime. It means so much to me when I meet friends at church and other events and they tell me how much they have enjoyed reading my articles. I have received letters and phone calls from people I didn’t even know who express their appreciation for what I have written.

I am looking forward to attending the workshop this year and hope to learn even more about how to be a better writer. I am very thankful that Patty went that first time and encouraged me to write. We haven’s gotten rich with our writing, but the workshop has made a big difference in our lives.

Thank you so much for having Bruce Barbour and Lavonne Stevens at SCWC. I have recently signed with Lavonne as my agent. I wanted you to know that through SCWC you gave me the opportunity to talk with her and show her my material. Just wanted to share. Thanks again.

To all the staff of SCWC: Thank you for a most enjoyable, informative, and inspirational workshop. It was quite beneficial and encouraging to me and my writing interests.

I just wanted to share with you my joy from attending the conference. I learned so much. I cannot say enough about how impressed I was with the speakers, and the overall conference. Thank you to the Southern Christian Writer's Conference staff and all who made it happen.

I thoroughly enjoyed the conference. The writers who attended were the most lovely people I have ever had the privilege of meeting. The conference leaders were great!  All were highly professional and helpful to the participants. It definitely was worth going for and I hope to be able to go again next year God willing.

Thank you and your wonderful staff for providing the help and interest for a great retreat. I felt as if I had been in a revival meeting.

Wonderful! Fantastic!

Enjoyable! informative! and inspirational!

I definitely get a lot of bang for the buck at the conference, and I enjoy the SCWC more than any other conference I've ever attended. I've anticipated it all year. I'd also like to donate a doorprize of some sort like a lapdesk or scripture reference book. It's an opportunity to give a little something back to the conference. Your conference & warm family staff have meant more to me than words can ever express.

This was great! Maybe this should happen twice a year!

Thank you so much for your wonderful conference. I sensed a sweet spirit throughout the proceedings. May God anoint and bless you all throughout this year.

As a first-time attendee I want you to know how much I enjoyed the great conference you hosted last weekend in Tuscaloosa. It was superb! I attended with an open mind, but my expectations were guarded. Perhaps I did not want to be disappointed if it was not a good fit for me. Instead, as I sat and listened to the speakers and workshop leaders, tears kept brimming in my eyes. I had not expected that response — that the words of the speakers would tug and swirl in my heart.

I returned home with so much material and so much information I decided to just let it sit awhile and percolate into my mind. I am not sure yet just how I am going to learn from the information I received. But I want you to know that I am going to use the information — and the contacts I made — to improve my writing skills and use the information for good. I have made a commitment to that — to helping others through my writing.

Again, I want to thank you for a really great learning experience. You probably don't know it, but God has used you to bless my life.

This was my first year to attend, and I really enjoyed it. I have only been writing for about two years. All of the speakers were very helpful. I learned a lot, and I was also encouraged in the Lord. I was inspired to write!

Thanks for the helpful conference. Speakers and workshops were helpful — AND inspiring. Now if I will only discipline myself to write!

I had a wonderful time at the writers’ conference last weekend. Keep it up. It is the greatest!

Just wanted to tell you what a great job you did, again. It was such a blessing to be there. I can't believe I ever miss a year. Thanks for all of your hard work.

I have been to the SCWC for seven years and have thoroughly enjoyed each and every one of the speakers in each session.

This was so well planned and organized. The speakers were great. What a blessing it has been.

I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was encouraging, informative, wonderful!

I just wanted to drop you a line and tell you how much I enjoyed the workshop last weekend. I got some good information — sometimes depressing (slim chances of getting my book published) but nevertheless information that I needed to know. The presenters were all knowledgeable, and I respected what they had to say. Cheryl Wray was especially interesting with the information she gave about writing articles — I may work more on that from now on. Anyway, thanks so much for putting everything together and making it an affordable weekend for me to attend. I’m already looking forward to next year.

Just wanted to take a minute and say thank you for all the time and energy and love that goes into every workshop. I often wonder if you all don't just collapse in bed from exhaustion when the weekend finally ends. I'm sure that next year's conference is already in the works.

Please tell Cheryl Wray what a blessing she was to me. She is a great teacher and so enthusiastic. Her book will be well-used in this house!

Just wanted to tell you and your staff how God blessed my life through the sessions I attended at the Southern Christian Writers Conference in Tuscaloosa. Thank you for all your hard work!

As you know, I came up alone and stayed alone in the hotel. It turned out to be quite a spiritual retreat. The 4-hour drive home was a time to be quiet and reflect on what I had learned and a needed prayer time to seek direction and enjoy the company of God. Thank you for this special ministry.

Thank you for the hospitality and the opportunity to meet you and your great staff of volunteers. My wife and I enjoyed our time with you. Blessings to you.

I thank God for the SCWC. I am inspired to write, I need all the help I can get. Thank you so much.

Thanks so much for the wonderful work you put into the conference. It is always such a blessing.

Thank you so much for another great writers conference. I met some nice people and certainly gained much insight for going forward with my writing. You do a fantastic job, and I appreciate you so much.

THANK YOU to all the coordinators, volunteers and workshop presenters for making this unique forum available in such a user-friendly, affordable, convenient way. I am renewed and refreshed — mentally, emotionally, spiritually and intellectually.

I had invited a friend from Mississippi to attend the conference with me. She was very impressed!!! You really do a wonderful job!!!!!

I’m grateful to have had the opportunity to share in the wonderful weekend of the SCWC workshop. I believe everyone must have come away from those two days inspired.

I know I haven’t laughed so much in ages. When I said this to someone from [a secular writers’ organization], she replied, “Why, I didn’t know religious meetings could be fun.”

To say that I'm looking forward to the conference next year is an understatement!

Your hard work is truly appreciated. God Bless each one of your staff and all your family members. I'm sure you have to start planning right now for next year's conference. I know there are tons of issues you have to resolve and mountains of preparation to be ready for the next one. I will keep the conference and it's needs in my prayers.

Your work in building this useful conference into such a worthwhile event benefitting so many people is a special ministry that has profoundly affected the lives of many. Because of your efforts, hundreds of writers are better equipped to present messages of hope and healing to spiritually hungry and hurting people everywhere.

Wonderful! Inspiring, surprising, encouraging, absolutely fabulous!

Thank you so much for the wonderful conference again this year. I learned so much, my heart and my head is so full it is overflowing. I came home and 'yes' I begin to write a praise report to my Lord and Savior.

You could feel the presence of God in a very tangible way. I left so inspired that I stayed up past 1:30 writing as God gave me new ideas and the inspiration to revise some old material. I plan to write the rest of the summer to finish some manuscripts and send them to various publishers. Thanks for being such wonderful conference host.

Cannot tell you how much I enjoyed this year’s conference. We were very tired when we got back to Mobile ... can only imagine how tired you must have been. Carpooling provided a lot of information as well, and we made some really good friends that way. Thanks again for your wonderful ministry.

You made me feel so much a part of things and at home from the start. Two women helped me and another first timer to feel at home and a part of the proceedings too!

I’m so excited and can’t wait to get home and start writing.

Wonderful, as always!

Accommodations, food, speakers, planning — all were exceptional.

AWESOME conference.

Thank you for the encouragement.

This is a great conference! I can’t wait until next year.

Very interesting, very informative — but best of very inspiring!

This conference is such a blessing! The speakers are uplifting. The subjects offered are timely and informative. The staff and speakers have such servant hearts. If you’re not already a writer, you want to be by the time you leave. Thank you!

My first time, and it was just what I needed to overcome my nerves and get started. Thank you!

As always, great conference!

This conference is so rich. I can’t think of anything to improve it.

This was my first SCWC. Thanks for an awesome conference! It was very well organized.

This is my first conference, and I absolutely loved it! I learned something from every session. The speakers were very motivating and inspiring! I enjoyed meeting the authors, editors, publishers, etc. What an awesome community of Christian writers!

Thank you so very much! We value the furthering of Christ’s kingdom through writing servants and your commitment to that.

Thank you! The conference was not only helpful (from a technical skills standpoint) but also encouraging.

Thank you to all the staff for your hard work, prayers, and love! God bless you!

I just returned from the 24th annual conference. Speakers representing six different states – attendees from 11 states, as far as Arizona. The SCWC has brought in the best of the best communicators over these many years. Congratulations on the 24th conference. I’m already excited about the 25th! Can’t wait to see what you all do.

Thanks for another great conference; "the best yet" I heard from many folks, and I totally agree.

I got so much out of the conference and was so blessed just to be there. I made many new "friends" and contacts, and I will enjoy this for years to come. Thanks for all you do — what a wonderful event!

The conference was a joy. I know you were busy making sure that everything came off beautifully — and it did.

Still tired from the Southern Christian Writers Conference this weekend, but my heart is still overflowing with the blessings I received from this wonderful conference and these wonderful people. Thankful for the informative workshops and the people who gave their time and energy to do them. Thankful for the agents, editors, publishers and others who took time to encourage me and give me some direction. Thankful for Wm David Sloan, his wife Joanne and his daughter Cheryl Sloan Wray as well as the rest of their family for their hard work. Having done two conferences, I totally know what a sacrifice it is and what servants’ hearts it takes to do it.

We, the staff of the SCWC, are grateful for all the kind comments that we get from people who attend the workshop. Here are some of the e-mail messages we have received. We are posting them here primarily to let those of you who have not attended a workshop to see how beneficial it is. But we also want to express our sincere gratitude to everyone who took the time to correspond with us.

I wanted to sit down and thank you for this year’s conference. I think I’ve finally gotten my breath back and can take a few minutes to express what a blessing this year’s conference was to me.

From the first three speakers in the opening session, through every workshop session, and the keynote addresses, the Lord took aim at me. I sure got hit spiritually! The Lord used the entire experience powerfully for me.

While it’s true that the Lord can use anything, I appreciate the way that you encourage the spiritual part of the conference. It would be easy to focus on the practical aspects and ignore the spiritual. There’s a lot to be learned just on the practical end, but you blend both so that participants can be both inspired and educated.

Thank you for your work in creating an experience the Lord can use. I appreciate your commitment to helping writers grow both professionally and spiritually.

THANK YOU for a wonderful conference!

Just a quick note to say that I really enjoyed the workshop this weekend. It's bound to be a lot of work for everyone who has a part in putting it on. I was surprised by how many people were there! Thanks again for an inspiring weekend,

Just wanted to write you a brief note and let you know how outstanding the conference was this year (as usual!). Each of the classes I attended was excellent.

The Southern Writers Conference proved to be a tremendous blessing to me and many others I met from Atlanta to Miami and beyond.

I had a delightful time at the conference. I really enjoyed the speakers. Made some good contacts.

Thank you so much for all your work to get this conference together for the umpteenth time. I was blessed to the core of my soul. I was so inspired that as soon as I got home Saturday afternoon (Columbus, Miss.), I wrote a query letter to the editor of Columbus' "Commercial Dispatch" to see if he would like an article about the conference. How's that?!

Cheryl Wray motivated me to start thinking like a real magazine writer. I have ideas for at least five articles and have ordered Sally Stuart's Christian Writer's Market book. As I was cutting the lawn this A..M., I had to stop four times to run inside and jot more ideas onto my notebook. It took me longer to get the grass cut, but it is worth it. I KNOW that I can do this writing thing now, thanks to all of you.

I will definitely see you next year. Keep me posted.

This is the most meaningful conference I’ve ever been to.

I am leaving so greatly encouraged and spiritually refreshed! I have laughed, cried, chuckled, and nodded my head in agreement with the speakers. I can’t wait to get started!

(from a speaker): I am still reflecting on many of the gifts and blessings I received at the writers workshop this past weekend.  What a joy it was!  Believe me when I say that I came away with far more than I gave.

I was deeply touched by the many different writers I met who shared with me the spiritual call they felt was on their lives.  I hate to admit how often I get bogged down by the "business side" of my writing (i.e. "who is my agent going to pitch the book to?"  or "what were my royaltlies this year compared with last year?")  My weekend at the SCWC really helped me to refocus.

I loved the fact that this group was so diversified.  Some had been quite successful by the world's standards while some had received no worldly recognition at all so far, but all had come together at the workshop to focus on God's call to write for Him.  I applaud you and your family for keeping the the spiritual focus so sharp, and for making every writer an important member of the community.

God bless you as you continue to serve the Lord and encourage Christian writers.  Thank you again for allowing me to be a part of your ministry.

There are a lot of hungry and hurting people. Your ministry helps us reach those folks through the ministry of writing. You and your staff probably cannot know the impact the Lord is having in the lives of hundreds of attendees and those they reach. What the Gaithers are to Christian music, you are to the ministry of writing.

The workshop was a blessing and an encouragement. I was strengthened, challenged, and encouraged.

Thank you for doing such a fabulous job coordinating the Southern Christian Writers Conference. I am a retired Professional Meeting Planner so I am able to appreciate what all goes on behind the scenes.

We were so comfortable at First Baptist Church. They have such a wonderful facility. It was such a great, safe environment in which to learn.

Overall, I can sum up my experience by saying this "see you at the next conference".

The conference was great, and EVERYONE was so friendly. My impression of Alabama was very good.

My third year. I loved it — again. Well-organized. Very encouraging professionally and spiritually.

I know no other conference that compares with this one. It has been more than expected.

Very helpful! I’m so glad I came.

The speakers’ humble spirit touched my heart as they shared from the richness of their walk with God. Hearing them gave me an even greater hunger to know Him more intimately than ever before.

I am always inspired when I leave — not only to write, but to be a better Christian, church member, and neighbor.

What a blessed experience for all of us! To say that you did an outstanding job is an understatement. For me, the cliché, you covered all the bases, aptly describes the conference. I have never heard any better speakers at any conference. And I have attended several. This year’s SCWC speakers were powerhouses!

The SCWC is a great blessing to so many people!

Excellent job!! Outstanding in every way. Bravo!

Great job. Even better than I expected!

Enjoyed every minute!

Thanks again for all you do to help writers like me.

The SCWC touched so many lives. God was doing things we could have never imagined..

While standing in the lunch line, I thought I saw a familiar face and walked over to the lady. It was the a daughter of a friend. We hugged and sat together for lunch to talk with her about our progress on the project. I'd written her last year about the idea.

You may never know all God is accomplishing through the SCWC; so I had to tell you what He did on Saturday. Thanks for all you do for Christian writers!

I can't wait until next year!

I am overflowing with joy. The conference was wonderful.

I want to thank you and your family for all the work you put into the Southern Christian Writers Conference. This was my first time to attend a writer’s conference, and it was phenomenal! Not only was it very informative to me as a writer, but I also felt the presence of the Holy Spirit from the beginning to the end. It was like a Christian retreat and writer’s conference all in one! Thank you again for your willingness to use your time and abilities to serve God and others.

A big thank you. What a wonderful conference you have created! This was my first time to attend, and I loved every moment of it. Thank you for your dedication to this tremendous undertaking. Many thanks and much gratitude for the opportunity to hear such quality speakers and meet so many talented, genuine and devoted writers. I will be sure to direct others to your conference and look forward to joining you again next summer.

I know you must have 200 of these emails in your inbox. However, I must add just one more!

My heart is so full of gratitude for the amazing work your family put forth to create this event. You all must be spent from the adrenaline push to bring it forth and while grieving the passing of your precious mother. Please know that I am praying for you all, and I mean I am praying for you all.

Nonetheless, you carried it off with professionalism and southern hospitality. What a great mix! This conference not only reignited my fervor to finish my books and publish, but connected me with the appropriate people to fulfill that vision. My heart is full! Thank you, so very much!

As a result of the conference, I have received enormous personal and professional inspiration and motivation from the presenters, participants and coordinators of the event. I am excited about using the information I received at the conference workshops and sessions in my free-lance assignments and in my continued academic studies.

It couldn’t have been a better experience. My first time, and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

Once again, you have, with God’s help, put on an awesome conference, not for your glory, but for God’s.

Everything was fabulous.

Thanks for a great conference. It was well planned and just what I needed.

I was so fired up when I came home, I got out all my old manuscripts to see what I could do about them.

Thank you so much for another wonderful conference! I was shocked to win first place in the poetry contest. I know all of you worked hard and I want to say thanks for all your work and planning. You are all special people...to be able to put up with all of us different personalities. Ha! I could never thank you enough...but I can ask God to bless you for it...Love and prayers for each of you.

THANK YOU so much for all of your hard work. You did a great job!

Even several days later, my heart is still overflowing with all we experienced at the writers conference last weekend. I always comes away so invigorated and encouraged, and I always say it can’t get any better, and then the next year I say the same thing! I want you to know how many lives the workshop blesses each year.

Your wonderful conference! Although I’ve gone to many writing conferences, I found SCWC to be the most organized and well-run conference I’ve attended, and I pray for its continued success.

Thanks so much for all the effort and time put into planning this year’s conference. We got much more than our money’s worth this year. All my friends are envious at my excitement. The conference was fantastic.

The conference was wonderful! Thank you for all of the work you did to make this such a success for so many.

Your conference has impacted my life in tremendous ways. Thanks to you for all that you do for writers.

Thank you for being an instrument in the hand of our great God!

My creative juices are churning ... a fresh sense of God’s presence. Thank you for all your efforts in creating a redemptive experience for me and others. May God continue to bless us so that we can be a blessing.

I am re-inspired and re-encouraged to go back home and write. Thanks for putting this on.

This was my third SCWC. They’ve all been great!

Another wonderful conference! I learned a lot and was greatly blessed.

I loved everything about the conference.

I love the relaxed atmosphere. Meals just right! Thank you! Met amazing people so easily. God is helping and connecting us.

Thanks. As always — Great!

The SCWC has a great conference every year.

Another fantastic SCWC conference!

I like the SCWC because it is so intimate.

I’ve been to other conferences that do “shameless promotion.” But the SCWC seems interested most in the people who are attending.

Great! Helped me spawn new ideas and avenues!

This was great! I learned a lot and was very blessed to meet many interesting people.

It’s nice to go to a conference that is so affordable and that seems like it’s not just trying to make money.

All the staff are so nice and seem genuinely interested in the attendees.

Very inspirational. Great speakers! Excellent job.

The diverse speakers and topics were very inspirational. My first time here — but not my last.

Wonderful conference! Thanks.

The speakers were awesome.

Great motivation for a beginning writer like me!! Fantastic information! Thanks you!

The SCWC was wonderful this year! The keynote speakers were great and gave all of us so much information. Every year the conferences are better than the year before.

Everything has been so well planned. An excellent choice of presenters. Very inspiring and informational. I enjoyed the challenges. This is the best workshop I’ve ever attended. You have motivated me and blessed me spiritually. May the Lord continue to bless this ministry.

This is an amazing conference. The speakers were great, and I appreciate the fact that you kept everything on schedule. I’ve never seen another writing conference where such a low cost included sessions, supplies, meals, book room, refreshments, and everything else you have. I plan to keep coming back to it every year.

Thank you for the informative writers conference! I don't know why I haven't come every year. The speakers and participants were very encouraging.  Well done!

I want to thank you for such a wonderful event. I thank God for your hearts for the people and for God. I pray that people received the knowledge and information shared to go to higher heights in their dreams and in the Lord.

I thoroughly enjoyed the Southern Christian Writers Conference.  The speakers were fantastic, and I was truly blessed to be able to hear their messages.

My wife and I want to express again our appreciation to you for making possible the outstanding conference from which each of us greatly benefited.

Thank you for a superior conference experience. The Southern Christian Writers Conference was well organized, offered strong and qualified speakers and topics, and evidenced a spirituality that emanated from the leadership and spilled over the guests with a sense of welcome and peace. Not only did I learn, I made new friends!

I enjoyed the conference so much. You guys did a great job. I left Tuscaloosa feeling so refreshed and inspired.

Thank you so very much for, once again, providing a place for Christian writers to come and learn, be challenged, and find community.  I attended the SCWC for the first time in 2006 and wasn't able to come back until this summer.  It was such a great time, and I am thankful for the experience.  I appreciate all that you do to make this event happen, and I plan to see you much more in the future!

Keep up the good work!

This was my first time at the conference, and it was such a blessing!

Very good conference. I pray God’s continuing blessings on your efforts.

This was great! I enjoyed it so much. There is a lot I have gleaned from it.

I’m so glad to have discovered this conference. Thank you!

Thanks so much! God bless you!

This is a great conference. I just wish you could add another day to it.

I got lots of information. Great conference.

Great conference!

Well organized. This is the best conference for the money that there is.

Enjoyed it a bunch!

Excellent weekend.

Great! Wonderful!

Wonderful! Thank you!

I really enjoyed the conference.

I really enjoyed myself! Loved the conference.

The conference was a real blessing to me. Every session I attended and every person I met had something special to offer.

God bless the entire staff for your labors.

My first time. I enjoyed it!

The conference was my first with SCWC — and while it was all good, I left with several little nuggets that God had especially for me. It’s amazing how He always does that! Thank you for the ministry of what you do, and most especially for the prayer that surrounds every aspect of it. Thank you for allowing God to use your dreams to reach and nurture so many writers. You will never know all the ripple effects of your ministry.

Last weekend I had a chance to participate in the Southern Christian Writer’s Conference in Tuscaloosa, Alabama! Though I’ve been a part of many conferences in my career, this one will stand out as a living example of what happens when God shows up. … My heart left the conference rejoicing in what God had done.

I’m still basking in the inspiration and information from the conference. I am already looking forward to next year.

I would like to express my gratitude to David, Joanne, Cheryl, and Chris + all the Sloan grands for another great SCWConference!!! From the bottom of my heart, thanks so much for all you do!

This was the best writers conference I’ve ever attended! Thank you so much, Sloan family for hosting such a great event! And thank you, Mr. Sloan, for convincing me to stay for the door prize drawings. I don’t usually win anything, and I was ecstatic to win the scholarship to next year’s SCWC! I’ll return with good words on paper!

Thank you Sloan family for a fantabulous conference! Your practical suggestions and jammed packed inspirational sessions have set a wildfire within my soul. Thank you, a million thank yous.

What an awesome conference and wonderful weekend! I met great people, learned a lot, and came away with very helpful tools and inspiration that will help me move further along the right path for my project.

You work SO hard, and I hope you see some of the rewards! I know you won’t see them all this side of Heaven, but you have all sowed so much seed in us writers that we can never repay!

Thanks for a great conference. My first of what I hope will be many in future years. And thanks for helping one get into his car on Sat. morning after he locked up his keys inside.

The conference was absolutely fantastic!

Thanks for a wonderful experience with peers and authors in Christ!

Greatest conference so far. You have blessed my life beyond measure this side of heaven.

Many thanks for a wonderful weekend. The SCWC was so encouraging to me, and I made several crucial contacts.

Honored to be part of the Southern Christian Writers Conference in Tuscaloosa again this year. Great job! 24 years of helping writers find their voice, hone their skills and learn about the ever-evolving tools of the trade.

I attended my first writer’s conference years ago when it was held at Samford University. It opened up a whole new world for me in regard to my writing.

Thanks again for nurturing new authors like me!

Last year I attended the session on Writing Nonfiction Books. It was most encouraging and informative as I was in the midst of writing my first book, a nonfiction subject. This will be my second year in attendance. I’m looking forward to the conference and all its offerings.

Thank you for all the hard work and planning you do each year in preparation for this conference. You all are truly an inspiration and a blessing.
